As painful as they’ve been, Trump’s past four years were necessary.
He didn’t drain the swamp, he exemplified it, militarized it, and championed it.
He didn’t build the wall between us and our neighbors to the south, he built a wall between ourselves.
He didn’t lock her up, he unlocked racism and rage, violence and fear.
He didn’t make America great again, he made the world aware of how greatly we need a Truly Great America.
Now, ‘We the people’ have spoken…
‘We the people’ have triumphed…
And ‘We the people’ have a monumental mess to clean up.
The blinders are off – we can see all that’s broken.
We know deep inside it had to be like this,
and we’re grateful…
grateful…
so grateful.

Agree. I wish everyone did and I’m hopeful some day they/we will.❤️

Sherry – did not think of the past 4 years in that light – but so true.
We watched here in NZ and were so relieved to hear the results – what a wonderful
President & Vice President you have – representative for ALL Americans and provided some hope for the world once more.

Indeed. Maybe the pendulum had to swing to such an extreme point for people to wake up to the truly destructive path that had been forged.. in the past, and for the future. Gosh, it was scary for a few days. Now, I believe I can hear a huge, collective exhale. You?
What a shame about Kathleen’s expression of disgust (and more). May she one day feel that the Biden/Harris government actually cares about her too…

Yes, Amit, the exhale. I hear it, feel it, and am part of it. Historically it seems things must be taken to the breaking point before they swing to a correction. Thank you for your comments.

All excellent points, Sherry, but I would have preferred to skip the Donald. Anyone who was paying any attention at all already knew about him and his associates of whom 23, I believe, now reside in prison. We needed those four years to help our planet and we cannot regain them. We needed scientists to figure out exactly how much fossil fuel will be needed while we make the change to green energy and then stop the fossils completely. We knew there
was racial inequity which needs to be changed, but we also need to know that Obama and Harris would have been impossible even 50 years ago. And Kathleen reminds us that 70 million people voted for Trump, many like her (fortunately, not all) and they are still with us which is a truly scary situation. We still have 2 months with a president who knows no boundaries and is mentally unstable. I celebrate today, but stay aware of how much needs to happen . Having said that, I note that my masks are a great help at the moment because I lost a cap on a front tooth that cannot be replaced for awhile. Sometimes the positives show up for the most unlikely reasons.

Also excellent points, Di, and I too would have much preferred to skip the nightmarish last four years. But too many if us were asleep. I know how tirelessly you worked to avoid what happened in 2016. We assumed we couldn’t lose and you aptly quantified all we subsequently lost in our complacency.
And…re: masks.
I just returned from a brisk walk in this glorious 90 degree heat. Sweat glued the mask to my nose and lips. But Bali requires them and I never forget that I am a guest here.
Hopefully by the time your tooth cap is replaced you can dispense with the mask. But for now…thanks for the chuckle!
